Somewhere in the heart of Limehouse, just a stones throw from where the 1936 'Battle Of Cable Street' took place, there is a Yurt.
It’s here, under the shelter of canvas, the warmth of a wood burner, the glow of lights and an array of warm blankets and cushions that the audience packed into the cosy space for an up-close and intimate Wilderthorn Secret Gig.
Drums were traded in on this performance for acoustic guitar and harmonium. New folk songs written by Jon specifically about the area were aired for the first time and old favourites were taken up by communal singing.
The night was not without it’s share of rhythm though, as drummer Dan Bilbrough opened the night with a full set of looped percussive beats using instruments from around the world.
